Julia B. Lindsey
THE BRIEF
Dr. Julia B. Lindsey is a literacy consultant and published author. Her expertise as a literacy consultant was putting her in demand across the United States and Canada. Despite her growing success, she knew she needed to rebrand her personal brand to represent the highly sought after professional she was. Bound by a DIY aesthetic, Julia needed a cohesive brand identity system that prioritized web accessibility standards. The goal was to design an experience that reflected her personality, resonated deeply with educators and school district leaders, and streamlined her creative output.

THE CHALLENGE
Accessibility Before Anything
It was essential that Julia’s new identity meet strict web accessibility standards. Throughout the brand design journey, we rigorously tested colour contrast combinations and built these compliance rules directly into her brand guidelines. While designing within accessibility frameworks can sometimes feel limiting, this intentionality ensures that everyone has an equal opportunity to connect with her work. A perfect reflection of Julia's own dedication to empowering readers.

DESIGN
From DIY to Decidedly Professional
Julia has made a name for herself in the literacy field but her personal brand lacked personality. She traded in her single Canva logo template for a fully equipped logo suite. This included full combination marks featuring her "literacy consulting" extension, alongside bold, typographic signature logos. We integrated a clean circle motif to emphasize the initial in her name and connecting the personal brand design to the very letters that are so foundational to her work and field of expertise.

DESIGN
Inspired Visual Storytelling
Inspired by the fundamental shapes and letters of early childhood education, the brand’s design language is intentionally simple, bold, and graphic. The circle motif from her logo carries through into the supporting visual elements, including a series of custom shapes reminiscent of classroom stickers. These elements double as playful brand patterns and icons across her touchpoints.

DESIGN
Mission-Driven Tagline Graphics
Developing a tagline is something I workshop with my brand clients. For Julia, she’s driven by a mission to support leaders to empower readers—which became the tagline we came up with for her new brand identity. We then designed tagline graphics for her brand identity to help share her story and mission in fun ways throughout her visual brand experience.

DESIGN
Giving Her Back Valuable Time
The bulk of Julia’s work revolves around presentations and resource development for school districts and school boards while travelling across the country. Before, with no official brand identity to rely on, she was wasting valuable time over-thinking creative only to have everything still feel super disjointed. Starting from scratch each time, this doubled—if not tripled—the time she was spending on presentations and resources and was not sustainable for her busy schedule. Rebranding gave her clear style guidelines she could follow along with pre-designed templates for social media and presentation decks.

RESULTS
Positive Feedback and Increased Ease
Since rebranding, Julia has continued to receive positive feedback from her audience. Managing her brand, creating presentations, and keeping up with content creation has become easier with cohesive brand visuals, giving her the time back to focus on what she does best.
She went that extra mile to fully understand who I am
Jenny was wonderful to work with! She went the extra mile to fully understand who I am and what my business means, not just to me but also to my clients, to help craft a visual brand identity that feels professional, welcoming, and “me”. I can’t wait to show it off!
