I'm Not the Brand Designer for You

Looking for a brand designer on Instagram, Pinterest, or Google can trigger immediate analysis paralysis. There’s no shortage of talented brand designers to choose from. But talent alone isn’t what makes for a successful collaboration.
When you hire a designer, you’re trusting an outside partner to distill your business’s ethos, mission, and personality into a memorable and enduring visual system. The branding process requires genuine vulnerability, which makes choosing the right brand designer a high-stakes decision.
Instead of pitching you on all the reasons why I’d be a great brand designer for your business, let’s flip the script. To save you time, energy, and guesswork, here are four reasons I might not be the brand designer for you.
CONTENTS
1. You just want a quick logo
If you’re only looking for a standalone logo to place at the top of your website, I’m not the designer for you. Your brand is how people perceive your business—at every touch point. Your logo alone does little to shape this perception.
Frankly, I don’t know how to design just a logo without having shaped an entire visual narrative that supports it. If you believe you only need a logo design, you’re doing your business a huge disservice.
2. You’re looking to shop a bunch of brand direction
If what you’re expecting is a presentation deck packed with half a dozen different aesthetic options to choose from, I’m not your gal.
Presenting an overwhelming menu of choices turns branding into an exercise in subjective taste rather than intentional strategy. A grounded, enduring brand identity isn't born from throwing ideas against the wall to see what sticks. It comes from deep discovery conversations and a focused creative direction that leads directly to the solution your business actually needs.

3. You’re expecting a quick turnaround
I retired my brand intensives years ago. It wasn't aligned with my values. The creative process can’t be rushed. Building an identity that endures takes patience. My standard brand design projects take four weeks. This timeline is designed to allow room for research, iteration, and strategic refinement.
Rushing through brand development often results in surface-level work that feels stale or mismatched twelve months down the road. If you need assets delivered by next Monday, my timeline and process isn't going to vibe with your expectations.
4. You rely on AI prompts more than your own instincts
A successful brand identity is designed to activate an emotional response with its target audience. Branding is emotional, which means Claude is simply not qualified to provide you with sound advice on your brand identity.
If you’re not able to honour your own feelings during the creative process, you’re doing you and your business a HUGE disservice. Beyond that, when designing a brand that is meant to cut through the status quo, why rely on feedback from a robot whose entire rationale is based on the status quo?
I’m looking for founders who are eager to participate honestly and who trust their intuition enough to push into original territory. If you want a distinct visual world that actually moves people, that requires genuine human collaboration. Not AI.
Ready to see if we align?
If none of those four points feel like deal-breakers, there is a very strong chance we would make brand magic together.
Take a look through the recent case studies in my brand portfolio to see my strategic approach in action. See for yourself if my past work gives you that exciting sense of alignment.
Like I said, branding is emotional. Trust your gut when making your decision to hire the right brand designer.
